Privacy Policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
This policy explains what personal information GR8 Drivers collects when you visit gr8drivers.ca, enrol with us and take lessons, why we need it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect what we need to enrol you, teach you, certify your course and get paid.
- We share it only where that work requires: with the Ministry of Transportation, our online course platform, and the services that run our website and records (Netlify, Cloudflare and Google).
- We don't sell your information, and our website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- You can see, correct or ask us to delete your information. Email info@gr8drivers.ca.
1. Who's responsible
GR8 Drivers ("we", "us" or "our") is a driving school in Pickering, Ontario. We're responsible for the personal information we collect, and we handle it in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Our privacy officer is accountable for how we handle your information and answers privacy questions and requests. You can reach them at info@gr8drivers.ca, by phone at 647-226-0074, or by mail at the address in section 12.
This policy works alongside our Terms of Service.
2. What we collect
When you send an enrolment request
- Contact details: the student's name, email address and mobile number.
- Licence number (optional when you enrol): we need it before your first in-car lesson, to file your course completion with the Ministry, and to book a road test if you ask us to.
- City, and optionally your street address and postal code: so we can pick you up and drop you off.
- Your choices: the package and add-ons you picked, and the quoted total.
- A record of your submission: the date and time, the page you enrolled from, your IP address, the country it's in, and your browser and device type. It shows when and how your request was sent, and helps us block spam and fraud.
When you register
After your request, we email you a link to our registration form. We collect the details you give us there, and a record that you accepted our registration agreement.
While you're our student
- Your lesson bookings, attendance and progress.
- Your progress in the online course and the date you complete it, which our course platform shares with us.
- Payment records: amounts, dates and how you paid.
- Your road test date, time and centre, if you use our car for your test.
- Our emails, texts and call notes with you.
When you visit our website
- Standard web traffic. Netlify, which hosts our website, receives the technical information every website receives, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and when. It uses this to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
- The bot check on our enrolment form. Cloudflare Turnstile checks signals such as your IP address, browser and connection details to tell people from automated bots. Most people never see it. Cloudflare says it uses these signals only to detect bots and improve that detection, not to identify or profile you.
- No advertising trackers. We don't use advertising or social-media tracking on our site, and we don't currently use an analytics service. See section 6.
When you contact us
If you call, text or email us, we keep what you tell us so we can help you.
We never ask for your Social Insurance Number, medical details, or card or banking details through our website. Please don't send them to us by email or text.
3. How we use it
- To respond to your enrolment request and send you our registration form.
- To set up your online course login.
- To book your lessons and pick you up and drop you off.
- To teach and assess you, and keep track of your progress.
- To file your course completion with the Ministry of Transportation and give you your certificate.
- To book your road test and bring our car, if you ask us to.
- To take payments, keep our accounts and meet our tax obligations.
- To keep a record that you accepted our registration agreement.
- To keep our website and records secure and prevent spam and fraud.
- To meet our legal obligations, including Ministry inspections of our course.
By sending an enrolment request or registering, you consent to these uses, which we need to provide your course. For anything else, we ask first:
- Reviews and photos. We'll only show your name, words or photo on our website or social media with your permission.
- News and offers. We only send you promotional messages if you've agreed or Canada's anti-spam law otherwise allows it, and every one lets you unsubscribe.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you by automated means.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as described here, and only what each recipient needs.
- Ontario's Ministry of Transportation. To certify your course, we file your course completion with the Ministry, with the details it requires, such as your licence number. The Ministry may also review our student records when it inspects our course.
- DriveTest. If you ask us to book your road test, we give DriveTest the details it needs, such as your name and licence number.
- Our online course platform (TrubiCars). We give it the details it needs to create your login, and it shares your progress and completion with us.
- Google. We use Google's services (Gmail, Google Sheets and Google Apps Script) to receive your enrolment, keep our student records and email you. Your information is stored in our Google account.
- Netlify. Netlify hosts our website and runs our online forms.
- Cloudflare. Cloudflare runs the bot check on our forms (Cloudflare Turnstile).
- Our card processor. If you pay by card, your card details go to the payment processor that handles the transaction.
- Our advisers and insurers. Our accountant, lawyer and vehicle insurer, when they need it to advise us or handle a claim (for example, after a collision).
- When the law requires it. For example, to comply with a court order or a lawful request from police, or to protect someone's safety in an emergency.
- If our business changes hands. If we sell or transfer our business, student records go to the new owner, who must protect them and use them only as this policy describes.
Our service providers may use your information only to provide their services to us.
5. Information stored outside Canada
Google, Netlify and Cloudflare may store and process information in the United States and other countries. While it's there, it's subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessed by their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. If you have questions about this, contact our privacy officer.
6. Cookies and browser storage
- Our own site sets no cookies.
- Your enrolment draft. If you start the enrolment form, your browser keeps what you've typed in that tab, so nothing is lost if you go back a step. It stays on your device, isn't sent to us until you submit, and is cleared when you submit or close the tab. We also note which version of our homepage you saw, in the same way.
- Security. Cloudflare may set cookies that are strictly necessary to run the bot check on our forms.
- Analytics. We don't currently use an analytics service. If we add one, we'll update this policy first and explain how to opt out.
- Other websites. Links to other sites, such as our course platform's login page or Google Maps, take you to services with their own privacy policies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The enrolment form needs the bot check to work. If it doesn't load, call us at 647-226-0074 and we'll enrol you by phone.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires.
- Enrolment requests that don't go ahead: deleted once we no longer need them.
- Student records (enrolment, lessons and course completion, including your registration agreement): for as long as the Ministry of Transportation requires driving schools to keep them.
- Payment and accounting records: six years, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
- Website traffic logs: kept by Netlify, our host, for a limited time under its own retention policy.
- Your enrolment draft: in your browser only, until you submit or close the tab.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
8. How we protect it
- Our website uses HTTPS, so what you send us is encrypted on its way to us.
- Our website's enrolment form is protected by a bot check, and only our website can add enrolment requests to our records.
- If a breach of our security creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you and report it to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.
No website or storage system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. Your choices and rights
- See your information. Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct it. If something is wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
- Withdraw consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits. If you withdraw consent to something we need to provide your course, such as filing your completion with the Ministry, we may not be able to complete it, and we'll explain what that means first.
- Delete it. Ask us to delete your information. We'll delete what we're not required to keep, and tell you what we have to keep and why.
- Stop promotional messages. Use the unsubscribe link, or tell us.
To make a request, email info@gr8drivers.ca or call 647-226-0074. We may need to confirm your identity first. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (1-800-282-1376).
10. Children
Students must be at least 16. Our website isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when the way we handle personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we start using your information for a new purpose, we'll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
